| | | | Rich Webb | | Melbourne singer-songwriter Rich Webb delivers thumping wired alternative rock one minute, the tenderist urban corkscrew ballad the next. His is an alarmingly inspired concoction, held together by a voice that howls and shimmies like a dust storm from the Mallee desert. Rolling Stone says Webb is like Dylan, Nick Cave, and Matthew Sweet. We reckon he's got his own line in dark pop. Single 'Don't Feel So Sad' is currently spinning on 60+ radio stations in Germany, and album 'Overboard' has just been released there. All Killer Music proudly presents 'Greatest Trips', eleven corking tracks from Melbourne's garage pop kings. This is the album that finally puts it all together. It's wild indie rock from the early 1990s - but remastered 2007-style. Get your copy now. Available at all good Australian independent record stores, through Radar Music in Germany and all major download sites. www.myspace.com/stiffkittensoz | The Reveels | Brisbane band The Reveels formed in 2005 around the songwriting abilities of Paul Milsom, an artist and front man described as “one of Brisbane’s most enigmatic performers” by local street press Time Off. A prolific writer of hard pop that sweeps from achingly beautiful to gut-wrenching and haunted, Paul and his band wrap beauty in violence, mixing powerful melodies with a grinding, tough noise floor. The Reveels have recorded a full length album chock a block full of gritty, majestic, very real slices of urban Australian existence. Coming out on All Killer Music very soon! www.myspace.com/reveels | | Victoria Hume | | Victoria's first EP, Electricity (recorded under the band's former name Mothband), was released in 2005, and they are now working on a full album, Limbs and Digits. Victoria Hume's carefully crafted music is instantly recognisable for the appealing intimacy of her voice and lyrics. Her songs veer between starkly personal and polemic, with each song creating a world of its own. Influences from Billie Holliday to PJ Harvey are evident, and her voice is frequently compared to Suzanne Vega and Joni Mitchell. Prepare to be charmed. www.victoriahume.com www.myspace.com/victoriahume | The Vagrants | Melbourne’s Vagrants know how to rock. You have got to see this band live. They got their name from the obvious – life on the road with no home. They draw comparisons as wide as Baby Animals, Evanescence, Black Crowes, Pink, Rolling Stones and AC/DC. But this is far from the full story. The Vagrants are simply a cracking rock and roll band blessed with a set full of hits, fronted by Renate, one fireball of a vocalist. They are the real live deal, and are coming to Europe for 30-plus rollicking dates through Germany and Holland in September and October. Check out the websites for full details. Single ‘Dirty Little Secrets’ out now in Germany through Radar Music – new album coming soon. Get into them. www.thevagrants.com.au www.myspace.com/vagrantsmusic | | The T-Bones | | For some years The T-Bones have been quietly chronicling the fading fortunes of the bush around the Murray regions of northern Victoria and south-west NSW, Australia - songs about amphetamine-fuelled shearers, cars, guns, broken hearts and the inevitable lure of the big city. This is a hard-edged world full of misfits and rednecks, and this cracking band address it in classic country-tinged style. It's Johnny Cash, 21st century Australian-style. It's Calexico with heatstroke. It's so much more than both of these. Come visit - you won't want to leave. www.the-tbones.blogspot.com | Letcher | Chris Letcher is a London-based songwriter and film composer. Letcher composed a score for the Zentropa-produced film My Black Little Heart which was premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival last February. Brilliant songwriter - "Frieze is further proof of the pleasure-potential of the disquieting and disturbed," The Guardian, UK.
