What a brilliant end to the May Rich Webb tour of Germany: 1000 people, a gorgeous sunny Sunday afternoon, an outdoor stage at a historic Germany castle sat perched in the middle of a very German/French flavoured town, and some serious beers flowing.
The full band of Rich Webb, Phil Wakeman on lead guitar and bvs, George-Savva Georgiou on bass and bvs, Chris Letcher on keyboards and Dave Eugene Webb on drums delivered a scintillating non-stop Springsteen-like two hour set that was just oozing serious rock charm.
The set included the bulk of Rich's back catalogue and a good share of the upcoming album, including some great showings of Gone, Gone Gone, Amber, Beautiful World, Dead Bodies and My Life Story. Plus a few covers of Johnny Cash, Green on Red, Tom Waits and Jacques Brel. This was the show to end any tour.
Thanks to everyone who came along and supported this event - and those that made it all the way from The Netherlands too! It's a great place and a pleasure to play. We will have some pictures from the show up here very soon. For those who missed it, the set went something like this:
Couldn't Get Arrested
Move on Over
Light
Blue-Eyed Girl
Burn in Hell
Girl Who Laughed Too Much
Loaded
3 Days
Shine
Doing Fine
Baby's Got New Clothes
Ol 55
Sliding Away
Hanging Rock
Not The Final World
Don't Feel So Sad
Folsom Prison
Columbus Returns
Port of Amsterdam
Minnie Pearl
Amber
Beautiful World
My Life Story
Gone, Gone, Gone
What a day! And what a place - they don't get much better than this.
Yeah, it's been an absolute winner!! So get on the phone and request they play it again and again and again and again... The single is currently playing on the following stations:

We've got a late breaking Rich Webb show at Kassel coming up - it's at Joe's Garage, Friedrich Ebert Strasse 60. Rich will be there with Phil Wakeman on lead guitar and bvs, and George-Savva Georgiou on bass and bvs. The show will start from around 8pm.
Hey, the news from Hannover is exceptional - the new Rich Webb album is now in the bag after eight massive days at the legendary Horus Studios in Hannover. Rich, Phil, George and Dave kicked out 12 cracking new songs in double quick time and they are sounding tres tres rocking indeed.
Howard Bargroff was in charge of the dials for the first half of the session and Timo Soist took over the hot seat for the final four. There's still a little bit of fine tuning to do and then the mix, but the album will be delivered by September no problems.
Word is that it's more of a rocking record with tougher guitars and even harder ballads - but there's plenty of new eclectic stuff going on in there also. This one is definitely more up than the last album. And some of the Phil, George and Rich harmonies on there that have to be heard to be believed!
New tracks include: My Life Story, Amber, Loaded, Pushing In, No It Don't Feel Right, Gone Gone Gone, Beautiful World, Moon Girl, White Dove, and Dead Bodies. More details on the new album coming very soon.
Thanks to Timo, Ruben, Frank, and Henning at Horus for making this happen. Hey and also thanks to Arne at Taranaki Guitars for bringing in some axes and a box of interesting pedals.
The mikss show on München TV on Wednesday was an absolute blast - the band played Move on Over, 3 Days Missing and rounded the show out with Girl Who Laughed Too Much. We will have a download of the show on the website soon.
Rich, Phil, George and Dave will be performing three songs live on the mikss show on München TV on Wednesday May 7. The show starts at 16:30, will include an interview with Rich and a showing of the new video for Light, the current single in Germany.
The show will also be streamed live on the München TV website here.
In Australia, Rich uses an early 70s Fender Twin Reverb amp almost exclusively and it absolutely screams.
You can't ship these things about though - they weigh a tonne - which is why we are pleased to announce that Fender amplifiers are sponsoring the current Rich Webb tour of Germany.
At all German shows, Rich and the band will be using Fender amplfiers.
Rich, Phil, George and Dave are heading into the legendary Horus recording studios in Hannover from 10 May to 17 May to record the new album. Long-time associate Howard Bargroff will be dialing in the sounds at this top establishment and we will have more details on these sessions very soon.
Rich, George and Phil will be playing a Sunday afternoon session in Schwalmstadt, Hessen on 25 May.
We've got a late breaking show for Rich in Gließen tomorrow night - Tuesday 29 April. Rich will be playing with Civil Lies and No Pale Haze at the raucous MUK club. 6 euros admission and the evening kicks off at 9pm.
The Rich Webb tour in germany is growing with a new show added at Das Nyx in Bonn on Wednesday May 28. Das Nyx is at Vorgebirgsstraße 19, D-53111 Bonn. Call the venue for further details on telefon 0176/20559306, or email post@das-nyx.de
Rich and Phil hit the HR radio complex for a fabulous one-hour radio show with radio giant Volker Rebell on Sunday evening. Rich and Phil played Move on Over, Blue-Eyed Girl and Girl Who Laughed too Much live, and Volker also spun tracks from Overboard and by Chris Letcher and Victoria Hume as part of the rather gorgeous session.
Check it out an MP3 recording of the show here:

For anyone in London, check out The Applelips when they are next treading the boards - they are superb and the song about the 66 World Cup squad, Jackie Charlton and Roger Hunt is an absolute classic! Check them out.

Hey, we've got some good news on the gigging front: these dates in Germany are now locked in. Standby for the rest. At each, Rich will be with a full band including Phil Wakeman and Rosco Richardson on lead guitars, Chris Letcher on keys, George Savva-Georgiou on big bass and Dave Eugene Webb on drums. This is what's locked in so far:
24 April - Ulenspiegel - Seltersweg 55, Gießen, 35390 Hessen - here
25 April - Barrock - Goßbergstraße 1, Frankenberg, 35066 Hessen - here
26 April - MyLord - Kasseler Strasse 7, Schrecksbach, 34637 Hessen - here

It's underway and it's the same top video team of Tom Harris, Justin Gibson, Shyam Ediriweera and Jason O'Toole that did the Don't Feel So Sad and Burn in Hell videos that will be putting this beauty together.
The single will be released in Europe in April/May to coincide with the upcoming tour - and it will backed by a rather fine Rich Webb unreleased number About a Girl, which was done in collaboration with South Africa's greatest musical export Chris Letcher. More on all of this soon.
Rich will be doing an acoustic set at a charity music party on Sunday in Melbourne - it's called Cos Zyzer Zeso, entry is by donation and all proceeds go to Beyond Blue, the national initiative to help combat and address depression in the community.
The fund raising event is being held at Carni, 60 High Street, Preston, between 1pm and 11pm, and includes a heap of live bands and DJ sets - there's also a fund-raising sausage sizzle. Rich will be on around 4pm. Get down there - this is a great way to raise money for a very worthy cause.
Hey, Happy New Year to everyone and thanks for supporting us like you did in 2007 - it was a fantastic year all round, we met many brilliant people, some of which we are now working with which is ace, we played with some wonderful bands at top venues in amazing places of the world, we had fabulous support and we generally had an all round bad ass fantastic time of it... and if we didn't know it already, we again learnt that music really is the universal language.
Yep, it was good - but it looks like 2008 is shaping into something just as fine if not even better. At the moment these things are already happening - there's a new single for Rich due to be released in Europe in April, accompanied by a new video now in production.
There's a European tour being planned for April/May and the possibility of another return visit in October. And all being well - backwind, even keel, wonky knee - expect a new album come the end of the year too...
It's all happening and we will keep you posted on all of it here as and when we can. Until then though, we hope you have a magnificent time over the coming weeks - and let's give 2008 the wallop it deserves!!! Now if only Scunny United can shape up a bit...
Here's the review beautifully translated - the original German version follows. You can check out the Triggerfish website here. The review is by Eric Baudner. Thanks to Mary-Ann Webb and Sarina Maar for this great translation:
Throughout the night . . .
When night lays itself over the city, swallowing the chaos of the day, it inevitably drags the restless outside to wander through its sea of neon. Not just in good movies – which if they do nothing else, can be relied upon to pay their dues to melancholy – this also happens in every city on earth. But whether in the movies or in realtime, the right soundtrack is essential so whenever a savvy bloke is out and about this autumn then, guaranteed, he has RICH WEBB on his headphones. Because his third album 'Overboard' sounds exactly as if, having been inspired by one of these nocturnal epics, it was recorded immediately and without compromise.
The seemingly benign opener 'Don’t Feel So Sad' provides a folk introduction but, despite its apparent conventionality, the voluminous instrumentalisation and wonderfully eccentric chorus set it off the beaten Folk/Country track. The evening pauses with the sinister rap in 'Judy Garland' before 'Overboard' becomes ever darker and, at the same time, ever more beautiful. 'Move on Over' develops unconscionable amounts of soul in four minutes and then, finally, with 'Burn in Hell', we’ve sold our souls to the night. It seems there is good reason for this man to have taken almost 10 years to produce three albums.
Despite albums which are always good, sometimes magnificent, artists like RICH WEBB struggle to achieve recognition with this kind of material while the JACK JOHNSONS of the world pocket all the glory with their sickeningly emotional one-dimensional repertoire – but no worries – you’ll prefer to share your 'Overboard' moments with a discerning crowd. The thrill is greater that way. And when, almost inevitably, at the end of the album, the song 'Light' allows the weak warmth of a winter sunrise, 'Overboard' can justifiably begin again from the top. The next night comes quicker than expected these days . . .
Great review in Schwäbische Zeitung:
Which roughly translated says this:
At last, the Australian and founder of The Stiff Kittens Rich Webb has released his third solo album in Germany. The singer-songwriter officially released Overboard on All Killer Music three years ago. Thank god: now it’s available in these parts. It is a melodic alternative/rock/folk/blues record with ballads and singing that is as dry as dust. A record that you should hear at the fireside after a winter walk with a glass of red wine. Sexy sexy Mr Webb - and please: stay always beautifully on board.
Overboard is a featured CD and the review is this:
Overboard heißt das dritte Album von Rich Webb. Damit hat der Schotte wieder ein ehrliches Stück Arbeit abgeliefert. Der Rolling Stone stellte treffend fest, das die Musik Vergleiche mit Nick Cave, Kim Salmon, Hugo Race oder Matthew Street nicht scheuen braucht. Die Tracks schleichen sich von Anfang an in die Gehörgänge. Fans von Alternative Rock sollten unbedingt reinhören.
Roughly translated it says this:
Overboard is called the third album of Rich Webb. The Scot has again delivered an honest piece of work. Rolling Stone appropriately said that the music compares with Nick Cave, Kim Salmon, Hugo Race and Matthew Street and it cerainly doesn't fall short of these marks. The track creep from the outset into your brain. Fans of alternative rock should absolutely listen to this.
Check out the review here.
With growing interest in Rich in Germany, it's been decided that we need to break down the language barrier a bit - after all, we can't put everything up in both languages here - there's just too much of it. So, we have launched a Rich Webb German-language website at www.richwebb.de
Go check it out - the site is being put together by Sarina Maar and Manuel at ZeroBlues - there is already news on there and three tracks to listen to - and a hell of a lot more coming.
You gotta hand it to bass giant George Savva-Georgiou - not only did he admirably take care of the bottom end throughout the blazing September European tour, he also had his mobile phone camera running on overdrive - check out all of George's pictures from the tour here.
On the final show at the Clapham Grand, there was also a mighty fine photographer by name of Neil from Incandescent Images in attendance - check out Neil's photos from the show here.
Which roughly translated says:
When Rich Webb speaks about his influences he mentions names like Dylan, The Who, CCR, Johnny
Cash and the Punks. When you are listening to Overboard (All Killer Music) you will notice it. The Scotsman creates some wonderful moments. His voice is at its best and strongest when he sings ballads and – a few - jazzy songs. The raw and dark songs are not quite as absorbing.
Which roughly translated says this:
"Overboard", the third solo album of Rich Webb, is his most personal work to date. It's essentially what happens when you throw everything over board. As such, it is a direct, elementary and honest piece of work. "Overboard" is based on songs which the Glasgow born Webb wrote during his last trip to Europe and briefly after he returned to Australia. The songs were taken to Joe Camilleri's "Woodstock Studios" in Melbourne. The result is an enticing mix of straight ahead alternative rock and urban balladry, held together by Webb's unmistakably dry voice. Like a sandstorm, it wails through the entire album, from the first song to the grand finale. The music press has compared him with Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Kim Salmon and Hugo Race. But Rich Webb says: "I have always the requirement to create music which is direct and has something to say. To do it with one snorkel and with one head, without worrying too much about musical styles."
It's not the full gig, but someone in the audience at the Rich Webb show at Amsterdam's Melkweg on September 29 has posted a couple of clips from the show on YouTube.
To check out a few minutes of Don't Feel So Sad live at the Melkweg, click here.
The show finished on Doing Fine, and you get a verse or so here.
Nice work!
Quite a few years ago Rich was the singer-guitarist with a scorching Melbourne-based surf punk rock band called the Stiff Kittens. Well earlier this year, All Killer Music put together a Stiffies restrospective called 'Greatest Trips', containing 11 of their classic cuts remastered 2007-style. And it's been fantastically received.
Here's what The Sunday Herald-Sun said about it on Dec 30:
In short: Infectious guitar-edged garage rock
In the early 1990s, a rocking trio from Melbourne created waves on the British and American indie rock scenes with powerhouse 1960s-styled guitar-edged rock. The trio, Stiff Kittens, explored punk rock's cool fuzzy roots on its four celebrated EPs released between 1992 and '95.
Remastered from their original tapes, Greatest Trips showcases material from all four classic recordings - featuring such hip-shaking cuts as Fat Boy, Eight Wheels, As You Walk and the ultra-hip Surf's Down.
With its quick-time rugged beats, buzzing guitar and spacey vocals, the Stiff Kittens dynamic was hard, dense and distinctly Australian with a sound and style that can be compared to the Saints and Radio Birdman.
Greatest Trips draws together some hard-to-find material and it is a gem of an album for lovers of garage rock and the classic Aussie surf punk guitar sound. *** David Flaherty
Greatest Trips is available at all good indie record stores - in Melbourne at Polyester, The Last Record Store, Missing Link and Pure Pop Records and in Brisbane at Rocking Horse Records. Or get it from CD Baby at http://cdbaby.com/cd/stiffkittensrock, or in Germany through Radar Music - www.radar-music.de.
Buy Greatest Trips directly from us here! - it will soon be available from the shop, but in the interim, just email us at sales@allkiller.com and we will get you sorted, no problems.
Wanna check out Rich's live interview on the radio show Ebben Eruit in September? Martijn Ebben and Michel Ebben and their team have the interview and songs up for download here.
They also very kindly sent through the original recordings of the show, and we will have them up for download here soon, once the technical team stops stuffing its face!.
Rich played three songs solo and live to air - Minnie Pearl, Move on Over and Blue-Eyed Girl - from the studio in Rotterdam. It was a heap of fun. Check out Michel's stuff too - it's very cool.
Rich Webb's first German single Don't Feel So Sad is currently spinning on over 60 radio stations in Germany. Get behind this great single by emailing or ringing the stations below which have all been playing it, and request them to play it again! And again!
It's that simple. The better we do, the longer the tour will be early next year...

Hey you lot, there's a festive party gig going down on Sunday, December 30 and Rich Webb will be doing a few songs there.
It's at The Brunswick, 140 Sydney Rd, Brunswick, Melbourne, the action starts from 5pm and Rich will be joining recent European touring partners The Vagrants, along with Matt Carr and Ian Miller in a last bash for 2007.
Come along and spend a leisurely Sunday arvo/evening - it's free and there will be beer and barbie specials going down.
Zumindest was die Single „Don’t Feel So Sad“ angeht. ***
Translated it goes something like this:
“Don’t feel so sad” is good radio music, all other songs are something between Nick Cave, rock and a Tarantino movie. "Overboard" is subliminal, a bit dangerous, impending and almost a bit mystic. Through the cool way Webb inserts his blues roots makes “Overboard” an easy-going album. But I like the songs most where it’s not quite so rock-based - lyrical numbers like “Cry like a Whale”. Lyrical, melodic songs with lots of guitar sounds are much more the thing of Rich Webb than exerted hard numbers. Nevertheless: Proper album for, let’s say, fans of bluesrock.’ ***
This is fighting talk!! Really! Well that's what our translation machine made of it anyway - and with the single scoring 3/5, it's not too bad, even if Rich scurried off to the barbers after to reading this one - actually the review is pretty cool... here it is:
Nicht nur, dass in Australien die Jahreszeiten anders sind, auch die dazu passende Musik wird mit Verspätung geliefert. So kommt der durchschnittliche deutsche Hörer erst jetzt in den Genuss, Rich Webbs drittes Album zu hören. „Overboard“ ist ursprünglich bereits 2005 erschienen, blieb allerdings im Nirgendwo hängen. Ende Oktober will der gute Mann aus Down Under endlich in unseren Breitengraden durchstarten, setzt dafür alle Hebel in Bewegung. ***
Translated it goes something like this:
Not only are the seasons different in Australia, the good music takes some time to get over here. So we in Germany are only now getting the benefit of hearing Rich Webb's third album. "Overboard" appeared originally came out 2005, but only over there. But finally, at the end of October the good man from Down Under hits our degrees of latitude to finally wave off the album in Germany, with all levers set in motion. And he's packing first single "Don't Feel so Sad" in his luggage. The calm, sensitive beginning reminds of "Chasing Cars" from Snow Patrol. But Webb wants to stop however no longer, and a quite raw drum beat is introduced. The verse is very cosy, calmly held and charming. In the refrain the Australian unpacks Britpop par excellance, and lets in additional guitar that strongly howls. Admittedly, it's a somewhat amusing combination, but it works fully and completely. In addition, comes still Webb's packing singing, which is always in both the calm moments and in the more intensive passages on the point. It could have been a little more restrained and "Don't Feel so Sad" would still have work. Nevertheless, a sympathetic debut from the man with the amusing hairstyle. Hopefully there is more coming soon, this first short conception is promising a lot already. ***

Which roughly translated says this:
After Rolling Stone compared Rich Webb with Nick Cave, Kim Salmon and Hugo Race, it is definitely the time to present him to a broader public. In his homeland of England he already has one `Single of the week' in the bag, and we have here the Australian's third solo album. Together with producer and bassist James McHugh, Rich went to Joe Camilleri's `Woodstock Studios' in Melbourne, and has produced a wonderful selection of 11 songs with a good shot of alternative rock, singer/songwriter elements and plenty of melancholy. 'Overboard' not only has everything you need if you want to plunge over board but is also like some sort of art statement from which it is difficult for the listener to leave.
ZeroBlues is now booking Rich Webb in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. All enquiries to Manuel at box@zeroblues.de
It's from Germany's Bumbanet.de:
Translated it is something like this:
Visually, the good Rich Webb looks like a mixture of a poor Bryan Ferry for and Robert Carlyle, as Begbie from Trainspotting. Of course, that's very subjective and not a lot to do with the music (i've no idea whether Robert Carlyle sings, it would be news to me). "Overboard" is a rocking affair and as soon as you find out from the booklet that Mr Webb comes from "Down Under", you try and find musical references from there that work: the music is somewhere between INXS and Nick Cave... on some of the straighter tracks though this barely works but "Blue-eyed Girl" does sound a little like Nick Cave, although with a duet partner who sounds much rawer than Kylie. The album varies stylistic between 80s pop ("Burn in Hell"), 90s-pop ("Don't Feel so Sad"), and bluesier numbers and with distorted guitars ("Move on Over") - but if it can't be chained stylistic, to Janus' second face you will say, then Mr Webb would have no value. But this is honest, so what is is about? The quite sceptical listener will feel comfortable placing it between pop, rock and also blues, and in my view: "Overboard" is probably particularly interesting for people in their thirties. So to test this, I've sent "Overboard" to my cousin and wait for feedback. *** 1/2

Sarina Maar will now be managing Rich Webb in Europe from today - October 1, 2007. Sarina, principal of Sarina's Künstler- und Eventmanagement, based in Seeshaupt, near Munich, Germany, will be managing all aspects of the band's business for the region.

Sept 6 - Blue Shell, Cologne
Sept 19 - Hard Rock Cafe, Berlin - Popkomm showcase

At each, they will be playing with the very fine The Vagrants from Melbourne sticking on a corking Australian night of rock and roll. More details soon.
Now this one is looking sensational. It's a Sunday night, yeah, but at one of the finest venues in this goddam city. Rich will be playing with the great Charlie Wilde (T-Bones) on lead guitar and Loretta Wilde on bass. It's their first outing in a while but the first of many.
Catch this lineup - Rich, Charlie and Loretta will be opening, then comes Quarter Life Crisis, and then the tres good The Vagrants. Mmm, so what else you doing that night? You know where it's at: East Brunswick, 280 Lygon St, Brunswick East VIC 3057. All this for a measly $10 bucks. Action starts around 8pm. What you waiting for?
Rich will be playing at the Standard Hotel in Fitzroy, Melbourne on Wednesday 1 Aug, with a full band including Charlie Wilde on lead guitar, Loretta Wilde on bass and Ivan Khatchoyan on drums.
The show kicks off at 8.30pm, and they'll be doing two sets taking in the best and the rest. It's a cracking venue, it's a cold night, it's beer city Melbourne at its finest. Come and smoke the big one...
The link to do it is here. Let's get some indie music up there.
Is now up and running at www.myspace.com/stiffkittensoz. It includes a 20-odd picture spread, and all five of the band's videos from way back when. It's been a real blast from the past this but these twisting rock and surfing roll numbers have never sounded so 2007 good. Get on here and get yourself a copy - it's one great party album. And spread the news will ya...
The dust's been dusted, the decibels multiplied, and we've got a running order tighter than the front end on a souped up Ford. The Stiff Kittens' 'Greatest Trips' album has been remastered and it's an ear splitting, rollocking affair indeed - quite simply, the band never sounded so good.
Martin Pullan did the honours at Edensound in Melbourne. He was given one objective - to make the record the sonic equivalent of a Boeing 747 landing in your lug hole. And boy has he delivered. 12 of the best Stiffies surf punk pop party workouts checking in at a cool 37 minutes, 13 seconds. Now coming to a party near you.
The artwork's being finalised. This baby's getting ready for takeoff. We'll keep you posted.
Here's the interview Rich did with Laura Vendy for the new music show Serpent's Tail, which streams live on the Internet.
The interview runs for 15 minutes and includes acoustic versions of Minnie Pearl and The Girl Who Laughed Too Much. Check it out here.
Mmm, never been to the central library? Us neither. But we are going there on Friday March 9 for a quite special occurrance. Among the dusty tomes of many years past, Rich is doing a one-hour, one-off acoustic show.
Here's where: City Library, 253 Flinders Lane, Melbourne VIC 3000
Here's when: Friday 9 March, 12.30 – 1.30pm
Here's the good news: it's free
Get there and let's get the 'shhs' going from the philosophy section.
Many moons ago Rich was the singer with a Melbourne fuzz rock bunch of dynamite called The Stiff Kittens. They rocked big time in 3 minute 30 blasts. And they knew it. For those who remember this stuff and for those who don't but want to hear some smouldering electric rock and surfing roll, we have good news.
We are pleased to announce that All Killer Music is currently trawling the Kittens back catalogue and will soon be releasing a 'best of', titled Greatest Trips. Eleven cracking party tunes from the band that defined hard party music 1990s style. No slow stuff, just arse kicking rock and roll that went right around the world and back many times.
This is one that everyone with a pulse is going to need for their big night party collection. Tether the booze, the Kittens are back in town! We'll let you know here when and where we get started.
You would reckon it's rocket science the time it takes us to do things around here. But finally, yes, huh, huh, huh, the Don't Feel So Sad clip is now up on the site too. It's on the music page on the left and scroll down, or just click here.
Top clip this, and we reckon with both this and the Burn in Hell beauty, Quicktime looks a heap better than that universal Windows malarky. Just personal taste, that's all, don't ban us you PC what-do-you-call-its.
We've got the damn thing running from the website. Go to the MUSIC page on the left and it's down the bottom. Or just click here.
They are heaps better quality than the YouTube version. We'll have the Don't Feel So Sad one up here soon also.
It's up on YouTube here. We are also in the process of getting these things running on the website. Standby - we have the files, we have the technology, do we have the know how? Steady tiger.
All the best to one and all - here's to a great 2007 then, or something unifying at least. It will be a year of stonkingly good music. It will be a messy, hop-driven fest of laboured gear lugging ending with blindingly good times. Of dangerous pursuits in exotic climes. Of a little bit of give and take. Don't mention the fuckin cricket though - what a debacle.
We've heard that Rage will spinning the new video for Burn in Hell on Friday 22 December - it's on about 3.30am. Sounds like an end to a good evening rather than an early start - saddle up, eyes down and crack another one.
The big music, beer and sausage fest in rock-steady tres louche Berlin is over! And a top effort it was all round. We've got a heap of things happening at the moment that we will report back on as and when they land for Rich and the rest of the All Killer team. More on that later.
Music highlights included a sensational set from Irish raggle-taggle gypsy Fionn Regan in the damn coolest venue on the entire planet called Pfefferbank in the old East Berlin, and another among the velvet from a German crew called Erik and Me. Too cool for school, both of them. No need for school when you play like that. They've both got MySpace sites if you want to check them out.
In other highlights - we bought a couple of magnificent Russian Lomographic cameras so expect plenty of fish-eye and panorama in the new artwork. They are here. They don't make them like that any more. Well they do in Russia it seems.
Berlin was as sensational a place as it was last year and the 24-hour bars never closed. Funny that. Put it this way, we are moving over at the first opportunity. Rich was interviewed about Popkomm while he was over there for an article that ran in The Australian Financial Review on November 18 in a piece called 'A big willkommen to Popkomm'. Austrade has the article up on its website if you want to check it out.
Mainly though, we met a heap of good people supporting and promoting great independent music. Once again, many thanks to the Austrade team of Michaela Kruschina and Stefan Jedele for putting on a great Australian stand with AIR. It worked.
The interview on The Serpent internet music show was a heap of fun with Laura. Rich also played a couple of songs on the acoustic live to air - Minnie Pearl and The Girl Who Laughed Too Much. The show also included both Rich's Don't Feel So Sad video and the new video for Burn in Hell.
The broadcast was broadcast live but for those who missed it, there should be a repeat available for download on the show website pretty soon. Check for it here.
Rich will be interviewed on a new Melbourne internet music show The Serpent on Thursday December 7, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm EST. The show will be broadcast live. Check it out here.
For those of you waiting for details on the European tour, the shows have been put back until March/April next year. There are good reasons for the delay which will become apparent pretty soon - enough to say, that what will happen next year will be substantially better than what had initially been planned. Watch this space.
The video for Don't Feel So Sad is featured on a promotional DVD produced by Austrade and the Australian Music Office. Called OzGigs Vol 3, it's currently being marketed at major music events around the world as a representation of new Australian music.
The Rich Webb track is part of the Rock compilation which also includes The Casanovas, Something for Kate, Regurgitator, The Exploders and SixFtHick.
All Killer Music is attending Popkomm in Berlin again this year - if you want to know more about the label, grab some samplers or just want to say hello, come and meet us at the AIR/Austrade stand in Hall 17, stand 513b.
We've just had some sensational Rich Webb 1" badges and a range of t-shirts made and will have them up and available through the online shop really soon.
There are six badge designs and they come as a set and three different tees - black, red and grey - in a range of sizes. The gear was designed by Kelly Boulton, a fantastic artist based in Byron Bay. Kelly also designed the new Rich Webb tour poster. Check out Kelly's stuff here.
We'll have previews of all this new stuff up soon. That is, as soon as we can work out how to do it.
Rich will be in the UK/Europe from early September to mid November. You can get him during this time by email at richwebb@allkiller.com or on his UK mobile - 07726 473 504.
It's in the bag and looking sensational - Mean Streets meets Melbourne's Chinatown. It will be going out to the television stations in the next few weeks, so keep your eyers peeled. We'll also have a version of it up on You Tube pretty soon, and put the link up here. Stay tuned.
Rich will hit Europe with a full band in September, taking in the Popkomm Music Festival in Berlin with a host of other shows. Dates are running from early September through to the end of the month when the band moves over to the UK - more details as they firm up.
For booking on the European side, contact Daniel Boehm at daniel@hollandmediapromotion.nl and for the UK, Dave Webb at dave@allkiller.com.au.
Buy Overboard directly from us for $A25, including free shipping anywhere in the world. Our credit card transactions are totally secure and are now handled by PayPal. We accept Visa, Mastercard and PayPal. For a limited time we are also offering a free Rich Webb Sampler with every online purchase. Check it all out at our SHOP.
Between July 2 and July 5 inclusive, the ABC local radio website OzTrax will be featuring the Overboard bust-up ballad 3 Days Missing. Check out the website here and get behind it.
Ring up your local ABC station and get them to play the track/album - they'll have a copy, and if they don't let them and us know about it. ''It's the ABC and SBS that stops Australia being like America,'' says one of the local music elite. Damn right.
Burn in Hell is the next single in Holland and Rich is currently filming a clip which closes up on Monday June 12 with a wild all-day session at the groovy Meyers Place Bar in the city.
This one's a short story which has been put together by the top team of Tom Harris, Justin Gibson and Shyam Ediriweera. They also did the ripper for Don't Feel So Sad. We'll have a link to the new video up here as soon as it's in the bag.
The video features the sensational work of Bethany, Den, Jimmy Mac, Merv, Jim, Justin, Nikki and a host of others - plus a magnificent '71 silver Fairlane, Mean Streets style. More details coming soon. It went off by the way. Thanks to Megan at the bar also.
Don't Feel So Sad is on the latest music podcast from Australia's top provider Roocast. That in itself is ace but the line up on the show is sensational. The show's called 'Best Episode Ever - Oz Music Wednesday' and runs as follows:
True Live - Question This
Rich Webb - Don't Feel So Sad
The Grates - 19-20-20
Ash Grunwald - If You Don't Mind
After The Fall - A Friend Named Karma
Pete Murray - Opportunity
Damien - Northern Lights vs Dave & Juillian
Bliss N Eso - Then Till Now
Augie March - Thin Captain Crackers
The Meanies - Rubber Man
Cracking! This is all tremendous stuff polished off by the great Meanies. May we suggest to all concerned here that you download this and do it now - it's free.
Go to www.roocast.com, or click here and download the damn thing. For those not offay on all the connections, True Live also features the sensational Ivan 'Choi' Khatchoyan on drums. Choi played a big hand on Rich's Overboard.
Click here and go to the 'Shows' link at the top of the page to catch a few words with Rich and a number from his interview on Plenty FM the other night. It was top fun all round - support Craig Armour and Marion Gingell, they are doing good stuff here.
Rich will be on Plenty FM 88.6 doing an hour interview between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday May 21, talking about a heap of anything and playing a few live tunes. The show is called Noiz Incorporated and is hosted by Craig Armour and Marion Gingell.
For those of you in Melbourne, tune in, space out and ring Rich up and ask him what the hell he's doing wearing a shirt that tight. We'll catch you there.
It's single number two in Holland/Belgium - Burn in Hell will be out as soon as we can get it all together. The single will be in a radio-edited version and will also feature a dance remix of Miranda by London's Bubble Boy with some seriously whacky Rich backing vocals. More on this as it zooms in from planet one and lands on earth.
The track will be building on the enormous success there of first single Don't Feel So Sad and will be through the same team of Pitar/Holland Promotions.
We have just struck a sensational licensing deal in Korea which will see Overboard released there by mid-June. It's with a label called SSG and distribution is through EMI Korea.
SSG have also licensed Rich's first album The Girl Who Laughed Too Much and the seven-track EP Sampler. Stand by for tour dates to support the release.
Get it here. We've been a while sorting this out but get on there and let us know you've been - better still, buy the thing and let's get it moving over there.
It's here. We thought we would be able to link it through to the website but it didn't work out that way. It's happening on this link all the same.
It's another early start but we've just heard the new video will be spinning again on the national music television show Rage late tonight (early Sat morn, March 18). It's on between 5.30am and 6am and slots in straight after Jamie Cullum and just before The Panics, Howie Beck, Josh Pyke, The Greenhornes and The Futureheads.
Set the alarm, or better still ride in the morning after a stinking night out - I know which one we will be doing.
Following the success of his remix of Rich's Don't Feel So Sad, London's Bubble Boy has the goggle glasses on again - this time he's taking apart Miranda and he's whooping it up. The early word is that it's like Tricky does Dallas but with decent cocktails. It's on the next EP for sure. We'll try and get a sample up here soon.
Our friends over at Sonicbids have got the video for Don't Feel So Sad up as part of the Rich Webb EPK (techno talk for electronic press kit, apparently) - check it out here and click on the video link at the top of the page.
They are fine tuning the Quicktime version but the Windows one is working way cool. The EPK address is www.sonicbids.com/RichWebb - feel free to email it around.
This is a tight one but we've only just found out - the new video for Don't Feel So Sad will be screening nationally in Australia on ABC's Rage music show between 5.30am and 6am on Saturday, March 4. It's coming in just before The Magic Numbers.
We've got some more news as the track goes out as a single in Australia but we'll be back with more on that when it's nailed. In the meantime, why not put the hammer down and catch the vid as the sun rises - it's not Saturday morning, it's just nearing the end of a decent, arse kicking Friday night!
Rich has been invited to play at the North By North East music festival in Toronto in early June - more details coming soon.
The video is finished and it's a real corker - It was shot by Tom Harris, Shyam Ediriweera, Justin Gibson and Jason Bagg and features Rich, Jimmy McHugh on bass and Ivan Choi Khatchoyan on drums piling into it on a 44 degree Melbourne Sunday afternoon - live on stage and at the bar. Too good.
In the last couple of months Rich has done two interviews for Australian Music Online, the main Australian music website, and both are now up on our website here.
The first one 'The day the stars aligned for Rich Webb' was done in December and covers the making of Overboard and some of Rich's favourite local artists and releases.
The second was done in late January on the back of the release of the new AIR 2006 independent music compilation. Don't Feel So Sad is on the rock disc of the AIR comp and the interview also covers getting started in music, some recent CD faves and band riders. Check them out here, and the Australian Music Online website here.
Rich Webb's Don't Feel So Sad is on the rock disc of AIR's 2006 Australian independent music compilation which will be on national release from February.
The compilation includes tracks from Ben Lee, Tecoma, Ben Birchell and the Corrections, The Butterfly Effect, The Hovercrafts, Giants of Science, Josh Arnold, Bertie Blackman, Ten Penny Joke, Offcuts, Mandy Kane, Jeff Lang, The Gin Club, Renee Geyer, Butterfly 9, Lucky Oceans, Ash Grunwald, Jessica Paige, Amanda Easton, Sally Ford and the Puchuco Playboys and Resin Dogs.
The compialtion will be distributed internationally from January at trade fairs including MIDEM (France), Popkomm (Germany), South by South West (USA) and Canadian Music Week plus dedicated national distribution and promotion to Australian radio, music media and industry.
AIR CEO Stuart Watters says: “The AIR compilation is about telling the world that some of the finest music produced in Australia comes from our thriving independent music industry.”
It's a corking lineup. There is plenty about it at the AIR and Australian Music Online websites.
Don't Feel So Sad, the lead track from Overboard, is on a new compilation CD which has just gone out to 2000 cafes around Australia. The early feedback on the release has been fantastic.
The CD includes tracks from Butterfly 9, Renee Geyer, Ann-Marita, Josh Arnold, iOTA, Bertie Blackman, Virna Sanzone, Cindy Ryan and the Universal Order and Dream Catcha. If you hear it spinning in your cafe, get behind it.
It's a fine compilation and you can find out more about it at the SoundsLikeCafe website here.
Last Sunday Rich, Jimmy McHugh and Ivan Khatchoyan kicked up a storm for the filming of a cracking new video for Don't Feel So Sad. The video was shot by Tom Harris with a great crew and will be on release early February.
The video was shot at one of Melbourne's treasures, The Lido Ballroom in Hawthorn. This place is an untouched gem, with red velvet wallpaper from the 1950s and classic design. It looks and is cool.
The bad news is that the current owners are due to be kicked out in four months which means it will be more than likely converted into some forgettable, run-of-the-mill new fangled outlet and all this beauty and charm will be lost for good. We've got to get behind this place and make sure that doesn't happen.
More details in this coming soon.
Rich's first single in Holland/Belgium is going down a storm. The track has already had many plays on radio stations across both countries and is starting to get playlisted on some of the majors, including Simone FM. If you are in that area, get on the phone and request it at your station and let's see how far this fantastic track can go.
It's still early days yet but the initial response to the Belgium and Holland single release has been sensational. It's spinning on many of the regional radio stations and has just gone out to the nationals. Stay tuned here.
Rich has just done a fantastic photo shoot with Australian pic legend and former NME photographer Kim Tonelli. We'll have the results available for download within the week.
Don't Feel So Sad, the first track on Overboard, will be released on two compilation CDs in 2006 of the best of new Australian music.
It will be on the new Australian new rock CD being put together by industry body AIR for the major international music festivals, and will also be on a local CD release distributed for play in Australian cafe outlets.
More information on both soon.
We have some top news: Don't Feel So Sad, the lead track from Overboard, and a fantastic remix of the same number by London's Bubble Boy, will be released as a single in Holland and Belgium in December.
It will be distributed and sold through Pitar and the rest handled by Holland Media Promotions. The artwork is by Center Van Liempd and it is steaming!

Also on are Faux Defeated, Black Lodge Sounds, Day I Die, The Omen, Billie Joe Buffalo, Red and Matt Walters.

This is what the legendary Rough Trade label said about Overboard:
''Overboard sees singer-songwriter Rich Webb at it for the third time, producing slow brooding rock not unlike the Bad Seeds. Reviews say there are influences including everyone from Bob Dylan and the Beatles, to the Byrds and Paul Kelly. Ditching the acoustic guitar for a heavier soundscape, the result is a deeper, darker Rich Webb than we have seen before. Tracks like 'Move on Over' and 'Burn in Hell' demonstrate Rich Webb's commanding presence. He definately has a Nick Cave vibe to him, his dusky dry voice resonating amongst a sea of howling guitars and deliberate, solid bass lines.''
Buy your copy from the Rough Trade online store here.
The last gig of Rich's UK visit will be at the famous 12 Bar Club on Denmark Street, WC2 (nearest tube Tottenham Court Rd). Rich has played there many times on previous visits, and this show promises to be a corker.
Opening the evening will be Irish singer-songwriter Cormac Heron (8.15pm), followed at 9.30pm by legendary US guitarist Bob Rafkin (played on Tim Buckley albums and has a heap of top production credits). Rich will hit the stage at 10.30pm with the full band above for an extended set - and there may be a few other surprise guests.
All of this for 6 pounds in one of the finest intimate venues in London. Get there. For more details on the venue and the night, click here.
Rich heads to Liverpool for an acoustic show at the Barfly, with Dave Eugene Webb on accordian. Rich will be on at 7pm, followed by Allister, Paul Wilkes and Ecuador. Doors are at 6pm and the show is free.
